Coolstore & Locations Assistant

At Trevelyan’s, our people are at the heart of everything we do. To support our Coolstore team, we have a newly created role as Coolstore & Locations Assistant. We’re looking for a practical, technically minded person to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and compliance of our coolstores and pallet location systems.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with equipment and systems, and supporting operational teams to keep things running smoothly.

Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

Reporting to the Coolstore Manager and Locations Assistant, you’ll support coolstore operations by assisting with maintenance, repairs, equipment checks, and pallet location accuracy. You’ll work closely with contractors, forklift operators, loadouts, and IT to ensure systems, infrastructure, and equipment are operating effectively.

Your mahi will include:

• Supporting repairs and maintenance of coolstores, refrigeration equipment, scanners, and tablets
• Assisting with pre-season checks, servicing, and preventative maintenance programmes
• Troubleshooting equipment issues and running tests, diagnostics, and calibrations
• Supporting pallet location checking, auditing, and accuracy
• Recording fruit temperatures and taking ethylene samples
• Completing calibration checks and supporting compliance with Zespri and BRC standards
• Assisting with coolstore projects, ensuring timelines and costs are met
• Supporting training for staff on scanners, tablets, and related systems
• Assisting Maintenance and Engineering teams with ad hoc tasks as required
• Working with contractors to schedule servicing and pre-season work

You’re practical, organised, and comfortable working with both equipment and technology. You enjoy being hands-on, can think critically when issues arise, and communicate clearly with a range of teams and contractors.

You’ll bring:

• A background in a trade or technical environment
• Strong IT and systems skills
• Experience with Freshcool systems (desirable)
• Forklift operating experience (preferred)
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
• A calm, methodical approach in busy operational environments
• A strong Health & Safety mindset
