Forklift Manager


At Trevelyan’s, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for an experienced and capable Forklift Manager to lead our forklift operations and ensure the safe, efficient movement of fruit and materials across site.

This is a key operational leadership role with responsibility for people, equipment, safety, and coordination across packhouse and coolstore operations.

Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Operations & Logistics, you’ll be responsible for managing all forklift staff and overseeing the site’s forklift fleet, including owned and leased machinery. You’ll ensure the right people, equipment, and processes are in place to meet operational demands year-round.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, planning, and coordination across multiple teams.

Your mahi will include:

  • Leading and managing forklift drivers, supervisors, and yard marshals
  • Forecasting and planning forklift staffing requirements across seasons
  • Ensuring forklift operations are safely and effectively resourced at all times
  • Managing rosters, shifts, breaks, and weekend coverage
  • Ensuring all forklift operators are trained, licensed, and competent
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs for forklift operations
  • Allocating forklift drivers to tasks based on skill and operational needs
  • Managing forklift fleet maintenance, servicing, and hire arrangements
  • Coordinating equipment issues and liaising with mechanics as required
  • Working closely with Packhouse, Coolstore, Allocations, and Packaging teams
  • Supporting Health & Safety, incident management, and corrective actions

You’re an experienced people leader with strong operational awareness and a hands-on approach. You’re calm under pressure, confident making decisions, and able to balance safety, productivity, and team wellbeing in a fast-paced environment.

  • A current forklift licence
  • Experience leading operational or logistics teams
  • Strong people management and communication skills
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving capability
  • The ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate resources
  • A strong Health & Safety mindset
  • A collaborative approach to working across departments
