Packhouse Manager


We’re looking for a confident and experienced Packhouse Manager to lead our packhouse operations and support our teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes every day.

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for people, production, compliance, and performance across the packhouse.

Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the packhouse. You’ll lead and support supervisors and teams to meet production targets while maintaining quality, food safety, and health & safety standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role where clear communication, strong people management, and operational decision-making are critical.

Your mahi will include:

  • Leading daily packhouse operations to maximise productivity

     

     

  • Meeting and actively driving performance against daily KPIs

     

     

  • Planning and coordinating labour, rosters, and leave

     

     

  • Communicating daily pack plans and production requirements

     

     

  • Supervising, coaching, and developing team members

     

     

  • Ensuring all staff are trained, inducted, and clear on expectations

     

     

  • Maintaining compliance with BRC, food safety, hygiene, and PPE standards

     

     

  • Ensuring accurate traceability and production records

     

     

  • Collaborating with other Packhouse Managers, Operations, and Packaging teams

     

     

  • Attending production meetings and daily HAKA meetings

     

     

  • Identifying issues on the line and implementing timely corrective action

You’re a people-focused operational leader who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. You’re calm under pressure, confident making decisions, and able to motivate teams to achieve strong results while maintaining high standards.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in post-harvest or packhouse operations (desirable)

     

     

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills

     

     

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building ability

     

     

  • Sound judgement and problem-solving capability

     

     

  • The ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing demands

     

     

  • A commitment to quality, Health & Safety, and compliance

     

     

  • Confidence working with production systems, KPIs, and reporting
