We’re looking for a motivated Assistant Orchard
Manager to support the delivery of orchard performance across a portfolio of
kiwifruit orchards in Te Puke. This is a hands-on, development-focused role
where you’ll work closely with Orchard Managers and growers, gaining exposure
to all aspects of orchard management while building your own capability for
future portfolio responsibility.
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
Reporting to the Orchard Manager, you’ll support
day-to-day orchard operations and progressively develop your skills across
orchard systems, labour coordination, budgeting and grower relationships.
Your mahi will include:
- Supporting the delivery of Orchard Management Plans to maximise
orchard performance and returns
- Working alongside Orchard Managers to monitor orchard health, crop
outcomes, and production targets
- Coordinating labour, contractors, and services to ensure work is
completed on time, to standard, and within budget
- Assisting with budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting
- Communicating regularly with growers and internal stakeholders on
daily activities and outcomes
- Learning and using orchard and management systems effectively,
with the goal of independently managing a future portfolio
- Supporting supervision, training, and coordination of orchard
teams and contractors
- Ensuring Health & Safety, sustainability, and company
standards are followed
- Participating in continuous improvement, lean practices, and
sustainability initiatives

You’ll bring:
- Previous experience in orchard operations, horticulture, or a
related field
- Some leadership or supervisory experience, or readiness to step
into a leadership pathway
- Strong interest in developing a career in kiwifruit orchard
management
- Practical, organised, and willing to learn all aspects of orchard
systems and processes
- Confident communicator who can build positive working
relationships with growers and teams
- Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
- A proactive mindset with an interest in continuous improvement and
sustainability
